This painting was done as part of a "barter" agreement between myself and a woodcarver I meet during our stay in Belton Tx. The items of the barter were a carved piece of trim for our Rv in exchange for a small painting for his wife. There's always a first time for everything. As Martha Stewart says, "it's a good thing".
Rebecca is proud of her Native American heritage. She showed an interest in art at an early age. Throughout her school and adult years she was always involved in all things artistic – from creating backdrops for plays to murals for community/church events.
She moved to England in the late 70s while in England she had the good fortune to attend the prestigious Jacob Kramer College of Art and Design in Leeds England and earned a degree in Interior Design being second in the class “They told me the class was full”, she says “but granted me an interview and based on my artist portfolio and the interview. Rebecca’s instructors encouraged her to continue as an artist and also exposed her to Floor Art. She was fascinated by its origin, history and the fact it was ‘useful art’. Upon completion of her degree she found she preferred painting murals and doing various faux finishes. She completed several projects for commercial and domestic cutomers.
Rebecca now includes Floor Cloths in her portfolio and appreciates being able to keep alive a very old art form that she describes as ‘Art for the floor’. She hopes you will enjoy her work as much she does creating it.
